Message from the Center Director

The social infrastructure you use every day, such as railways, electricity, and gas, as well as social media, email, and online video streaming services, are all supported by information systems. The same applies to business-to-business transactions and transactions between businesses and consumers.

At universities, information systems are used in various aspects of student life, including course registration, access to course materials, attendance management, assignment submission, and communication from the university. Information systems serve as a crucial foundation supporting learning activities.

In this environment, I would like students to be particularly mindful of two things.

First and foremost, it's crucial to accurately understand and effectively utilize the university's information systems. Missing important announcements or failing to submit assignments will negatively impact your studies. It's essential to regularly check for necessary information and develop a proactive attitude towards using it.

Secondly, it's important to acquire information literacy skills that will be valuable even after you enter the workforce. For example, while generative AI is a convenient tool, it doesn't always provide accurate information. You need the ability to judge the validity of the information presented, rather than simply accepting it at face value. It's also crucial to be cautious of suspicious websites and information with unreliable sources.

While you are a student, strive to improve your IT literacy and cultivate an attitude of trying to understand the mechanisms and essence of things. These will be valuable skills that will benefit you throughout your future.

Information Science Center is responsible for the operation of the university's information systems and provides various support services to students. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions about usage or troubleshooting.
